A New Story of Marriage: Reasons Beyond Love
When we talk about addressing declining birth rates, the focus often turns to increasing the number of children.
But before that, there’s something else we’d like to think about.
For example—what kind of environment helps raise people who can live strongly and compassionately in the society of the future?
Where does the power to empathize with others, to think from another person’s perspective—this "human strength"—actually grow from?
Perhaps the very first place we learn these things is within the close bonds of a family.
But does today’s society and way of living give families the time and space they need for that?
By pausing and rethinking what "marriage" and "family" really mean, we may find hints to rebuilding the foundations of our future.
Now, in an age where AI and technology are evolving rapidly, we feel it’s more important than ever to pause and think carefully about the future.
The chance to discover a "better path (より良き道)"—one we couldn't see before—is right here in front of us.
A new chapter of your life could begin, right here, right now.
We live in a time where technology can handle our “boring” and “tedious” tasks for us.
That’s why the future will be an era where we, as humans, can focus on living in ways that are truly “human.”
Imagining new possibilities. Dreaming. Creating ideas no one has thought of before.
These are powers unique to humans—things AI simply cannot do.
And now is the time for us to unleash those powers.
This event is a space where we can come together to think about how we want to live in the future.
It’s not about difficult topics.
It’s about creating a space where everyone can discuss important things that relate to their own lives, in an easy-to-understand and welcoming way.
The theme we’ll start with is the issue of declining birth rates.
It’s a huge and complex issue, which is why we’ll begin from smaller, more approachable questions:
For example—
- “What does marriage really mean?”
- “Why are fewer people choosing to get married nowadays?”
- “What kind of family feels right for you?”
Sometimes the image of “marriage = love” can actually cause us pain.
But the truth is, there can be more practical, yet still positive, ways to think about marriage and family.
Rather than just increasing the number of children, we believe the real solution to declining birth rates is raising “high-quality adults of the future”—people who can stand strong and live independently in society.
At this event, people of all ages and backgrounds will be able to share and discuss their thoughts together.
Even if you’re someone who’s “not good at talking,” don’t worry.
We’ll use a gentle, guided discussion format that makes it easy for everyone to express their opinions safely and comfortably.
A facilitator will guide the discussion and help ensure everyone feels safe to express themselves.
The goal of the event is for everyone to feel that their voice matters.
And we’ll turn the day’s experiences into a “template for future discussions” that can be used in other regions and groups too.
We hope this gathering will be the first step in helping everyone discover a better path (より良き道) together, through many conversations.
We’ll also document the insights and conversations from this day as a “template for thinking about the future,” making it available for others to use in different places and communities.
